System also applies for any deck which can accept a mechanical fastening.

Listed below is a general specification using a mechanically fastened two-layer waterproofing system. (Axter can provide written detailed specifications to suit any building on demand).

Usage Products
Metal deck The metal deck should be specially designed for the purpose and supplied and installed in accordance with British Standards or other industry Codes of Practice. It must be securely fastened to the supporting steel work with stitched side laps.
Vapour control layer Loose lay Axter's VAPFOIL aluminised PE sheet with overlapping edges sealed with Axter's self-adhesive AFT 50 taping strip.
Thermal insulation Loose lay rock/mineral wool insulation1 such as Rockwool's DUOROCK to a thickness determined by 'U'-value requirements. Axter can advise on required thickness.
Under layer Loose lay and then mechanically fasten, through the selvedge, Axter's TOPFIX FMP SBS modified membrane using Axter EVF 2C screws and Axter proprietary edge stress plates. Fixing density to be determined by local wind conditions, apply to Axter for further information. Side and end laps must be securely sealed with a min 2mm visible bead. In high wind situations it may be advisable to replace the TOPFIX FMP with TOPFIX PY FMP.
Top layer Fully bond by torching Axter's TOPAZ SBS modified self protected capping sheet2, colour to choice, to the TOPFIX FMP Sanded with a min 2 mm visible bitumen bead at all side and end laps.
Details At the base of all upstands a reinforcement layer of Axter's HYRANGER 35 PY angle strip 250mm girth should be installed centrally in the angle and bonded to both flat and vertical surface. The top layer should then be taken up the upstand. Alternatively the TOPFIX FMP sanded can be turned up the upstand for a min 150mm.
Rainwater outlets, etc Flanges of rainwater outlets, etc. should be encapsulated between the under layer and the top layer.

Notes:
1/ Other types of insulation can be used; Axter can supply further information upon demand.
2/ Alternative top layers: For a metal finish the TOPAZ can be replaced by ARMALU (aluminium foil finish) or PAXALPHA 4000 PB Copper (Copper foil finish). ARMALU is available in a choice of pre-painted colours.

In general specifications should follow the guidelines given in:
